Air conditioning is used in a wide variety of areas, including, in commercial, industrial and residential buildings. With regular maintenance, these systems typically last for many years. There are several signs that become apparent when your air conditioning unit is in need of a repair. In the latest blog post from AC Direct, we discuss these signs to help you avoid a possible breakdown of the system.
Airflow
If your air conditioning unit is in need of a repair, you may find that the airflow is restricted and not projecting as much as is usual. When airflow is restricted from a unit, it is possible that the compressor or duct may be in need of repair.
Sounds and Smells
When an air conditioning unit is in need of a repair, it may begin producing an odour or making rattling noises. Fortunately, these signs are fairly obvious in their nature, which means you can detect them quickly. If you begin to notice a smell coming from your unit, this may be due to a worn out installation fuse.
Thermostat
Issues with the thermostat in your system can sometimes be detected by the temperature of the space you are in. If one area is mild and another is noticeably colder, your thermostat may need replacing.
Duct Repair
If the above issues have been ruled out, but your air conditioning unit is still exhibiting signs that a repair is needed, you may find there is a deeper issue.
If you detect moisture around the inside of your air con unit, this could suggest that there is a blockage in the drain tube, an issue that, if left untreated, could lead to the growth of mould and consequently, poor air quality.
